Paying tribute to Primo Levi

As the world is under shock after the discovery of Assad’s gas ovens, and as petitions are launched  by activists, we must enlighten that Assad commits  this genocide (this of his own people) in front of the whole world.Sadnaya, Gas Ovens, 2, , SAC, May, 17, 2017

Even  traditional media, such as dailies, relay now the information that , yesterday, was shared only by social networks.

Unlike this, the Nazi Camps, which were similar, were hidden until the Red Army liberated Poland and all other invaded territories. Four Crématoire Nazi, May, 17, 2017

The poem If it is a Man , that I read when I was a student, is now of a hot actuality: what about Syria if nobody find a correct peace agreement, because of a ….th Russian veto? Every supporter of the Syrian Revolution(and I am part of these) wants now the end of this unbearable situation, and a political transition, thanks to a peace agreement.

I found an English version of Primo Levi ‘s poem on a blog, and I want to remember it to the youngest, because I know this is out of the syllabus in many Western countries:

You who live safe
In your warm houses;
You who find on returning in the evening
Hot food and friendly faces:

Consider if this is a man
Who works in the mud
Who knows no peace
Who fights for a bit of bread
Who dies because of a yes and because of a no

Consider if this is a woman,
Without hair and without name
Without enough strength to remember
Vacant eyes and cold womb
Like a frog in the winter:

Reflect on the fact that this has happened:
These words I commend to you:
Inscribe them on your heart
When staying at home and going out,

Going to bed and rising up;
Repeat them to your children:
Or may your house fall down,
Illness bar your way,
Your loved ones turn away from you.

This English translation is a personal one of the blogger , and I found it on the page

For those who would like to download Primo Levi’s book, the link is here, and the  English edition is good:

The access is free, you don’t have to create an account.

Moreover, on the photo of the header, Primo Levi reminds us that in every time it can exist a fascism which  has enough power to  take off to the citizens free expression and free will. We must be aware of it.

The link of the petition to the leaders of the G7 is given here:
